My healing journey

Life can unfold in such a way that can make one feel that they are experiencing destiny. As if some divine plan has been playing out throughout your entire life. As we reflect, we can see pivotal moments that set us down a path in which we may never have traveled had those things never occurred. This is how I would best describe my journey becoming a healer.

In my youth I began trading back rubs with family members who were willing to do the dinner dishes when it was my turn. A silly inception for a healer, but the healing seed had been planted. In those early days I had no understanding of anatomy or technique, I was merely operating from intuition. The same intuition that would become my guiding light years later.

The feedback of my “magic touch” was something I became very fond of so I was inclined to share my gift whenever the opportunity arose. Over the years I knew I had a talent, yet I had never considered using it to make a livelihood. It wasn’t until my son was born, which was during my time in Hawaii while serving in the Army Infantry. Once I had become a father, I felt obligated to change my career path to ensure that my son had a dad who was present. The idea of becoming a Licensed Massage Therapist seemed like a natural fit for me which led me to enroll at the Honolulu School of Massage.

Although I had the gift of touch, I was a fish out of water. The set and setting of a massage school was a world apart from the warrior culture I had come from. In hindsight, this accelerated my transition back into civilian life. The term “softening” would become a core theme as I developed as a healer. And as my training commenced it was clear that I had begun the journey that would alter my life.

There was much for me to learn, and although I was a quick study some things were beyond my perception. With my military mindset I was unable to accept the metaphysical world that was so often discussed amongst my new community. The term “energy” was commonly referred to and I was quick to dismiss it entirely. Little did I know that it was in play the entire time.

Upon graduation my instructors shared with me that I possessed the thing in which they could not teach. This is the gift of intuitive touch. I couldn’t describe it at the time but I could sense something beyond logic and understanding. And with that I declared that I would let this intuition guide me to new heights beyond the industry standards of massage therapy.

Now, I have 22 years of experience under my belt, none of which contain any continued education. I knew early on that if I sought training with a variety of instructors, my work would just be a reflection of what others knew. I had a voice inside that told me I could create things that have yet to be discovered. And so that set the tone of how I approached my work. I allowed my clients, their bodies, and the many settings I’ve worked in to show me the depth of my craft and the art of massage.

Two distinct things changed my work forever. One of which was when I had taken a job in a chiropractor’s office. This allowed me to focus on bodies that were in need of repair. This was a refreshing change from working on clients who ordered off a menu like I was a short order cook. This allowed me to take the reigns as to what I felt was the best approach to improve my clients condition. And with that I developed an entirely new modality of therapeutic massage that I call the ISEE Method. Till this day I can say with confidence that it is the most effective method of therapeutic treatment and balancing the body on a structural level.

The other factor that changed my relationship with massage was when I began to practice self-love. I had reached a point in my life where I began to reflect on my past and assess my life. I had flaws that needed to be addressed and wounds that needed to be healed. And so began my journey within. It was a long and arduous road, yet it drew me closer to myself in ways I had never known. It was a healing, and it taught me a great deal about the human condition.

My inner work began to reveal elements that had been buried. I had less judgement, more patience, and compassion. It was if my heart was blooming, and as it did it created a deeper connection to my work then I had ever known. I discovered that in order to lead others into a healing space you yourself must be able to step into those spaces.

I had always used an anatomical and logic-based approach when treating my clients. And because it yielded positive results, I didn’t consider refining my methods. But with this newfound connection, my relationship with energy deepened my work considerably. It truly comes from my heart, and as I set myself to an emotional space of compassionate love I am able to connect with others on that level. Most people who feel the connection struggle to describe the sensation. It is unlike our usual sensory feedback, and I would best describe it as connection. Connecting on the heart level is to be FELT. This yields an openness, acceptance, trust, and love. And even though I am facilitating the experience, the recipient is ultimately experiencing the space of self-love.

These are my gifts, and they are meant to be shared. No matter who you are, or where you are in life, the benefits of connecting with a healer can have a profound impact on the quality of your life. So, know that I am here ready to receive.
